7 Day Atlas and Sahara Adventure Trek.

Two extremes: Trekking and overnight in the High Atlas Mountains with the possibility of waking up in a winter wonderland; depending on the time of year, and camping in the golden desert dunes of the Sahara with its canopy of millions of stars. In between a 4x4 adventure on and off road with so many wow factors from day one to the last you will be constantly amazed at this awesome country.

Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Aik Souka

Arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport where one of our team will be waiting to transport you to Imlil and Dar Ait Souka. Depending on your arrival time you may have time for a short trek in the local area. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Ait Souka - Toubkal Refuge

After a hearty breakfast, the waiting mules and muleteers will pack up your gear, along with the shopping they already did and you will set off with your guide for the Toubkal Refuge. This is a day of uphill trekking over rocky ground and paths, in winter it may well be covered with snow. At the marabout of Sidi Chamharouch you will have a lunch stop and a short break before continuing up to the refuge where a shower and hot meal will be waiting.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal Summit - Imlil - Ait Souka

An early start today to reach the summit before the sun is too hot, 5am breakfast and 5.30 am start. Midway there will be a rest and some snacks. Once at the summit: depending on the weather, you will 30 minutes or so to take photos and videos, absorb the incredible vistas, rest a little and eat some snacks. The return will be down the same way and on down to Imlil for a welcome mint tea at one of the panoramic terraces. From there to Dar Ait Souka for dinner and a shower.

Day 4: Ait Souka - Tizi n´Tichka Pass - Ait Benhaddou - Dades Valley - Merzouga

After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, your guide will join you and take you to your transport. Leaving Imlil behind you will cross the High Atlas via the high pass of Tizi n´Tichka and descend to the Ounila Valley. This off road track takes you to Kasbah Telouet and more importantly to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the famous fortified ksar well-known in the movie The Gladiator. After a visit and a stop for lunch, your tour will continue through Ouarzazate, Skoura and on to the Dades Valley, Boumalne Dades, Tinghir, Rissani and across the hamada to the desert dunes of Merzouga and your hotel. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 5: Merzouga - Desert Excursion - Camel Ride - Camp

Today will be a day of discovering the different desert landscapes with a 4x4 excursion. A visit to Khamlia Village to see the inhabitants perform their Gnawa Music and have tea with them.  This afternoon you will be taking a camel ride to see the sunset and on to your Berber Camp for the night. An evening of music, good food and local hospitality under the canopy of stars awaits you.

Day 6: Merzouga - Alnif - Nkob - Tamnougalt

An early start to see the sunrise and a return camel ride to the hotel for a buffet breakfast and a shower to freshen up is the plan for today. We leave the golden dunes and go off road into the heart of the desert and the towns of Alnif and Nkob. Lunch will be on the way. Our stop for the night is the amazing Ksar of Tamnougalt at Chez Yacob in the Draa Valley, where music and entertainment are sure to liven up the night.

Day 7: Tamnougalt - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

After breakfast we depart for Marrakech, up the Draa Valley, through Agdz, Ouarzazate and back over the High Atlas. If you do not have a late evening departure flight, you will spend the night in Marrakech. If time allows before your transfer to the airport the following day, you might be able to have a medina guided tour, do some shopping and explore the old medina and square of Jemaa el Fna.
