Day Trip to Imlil.

Imlil village is nestled in at the top of Imlil Valley in The High Atlas below the highest peak in North Africa: Mount Toubkal at 4167 mt. In spring the valleys are filled with orchards of cherry and apple blossoms and later the walnut groves fill the valley with its green canopy. In the lower parts of the valley, almond blossom and other stoned fruit blossoms fill the slopes. Little terraces of wheat and animal fodder cling to mountainsides between remote adobe villages, and the scent of juniper and pine can be caught on the breeze.

Just 70 kilometres from Marrakech brings you through the market towns of Tahannout and Asni to the trail head village of Imlil. There are also many small Berber villages along the lush valleys that wind up to this beautiful region of the High Atlas Mountains, a perfect setting off point for the many trekking and walking options.

Imlil is a busy little village as it lays at the crossroads of several more valleys that lead up to the peaks and passes. Mules and their muleteers are the prefered method of transport and for carrying trekkers gear on longer adventures and summit treks.

If you find you have a few days and would like to spend more time here, then contact Taib for more information and to reserve your accommodation in one of his two places nearby. The views are incredible and the food is excellent. Rooms are wonderful, made with local craftsmanship, beds are roomy and comfy, and the service is always with a smile.
